Mr. Schulman is an experienced trial lawyer, focusing his practice on complex commercial cases in the federal and state courts in New York.
He has successfully handled hundreds of disputed matters, including numerous jury trials, summary dispositions, merits arbitration hearings, appeals, and administrative proceedings. Mr. Schulman regularly represents financial services companies, real estate development and management firms, retailers, entertainment companies, contract manufacturers, and service professionals. Mr. Schulman litigates all manner of commercial claims and defenses, including breach of contract, fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, negligent misrepresentation, misappropriation of trade secrets, and products liability.
Mr. Schulman serves not only as outside litigation counsel, but also advises his clients on corporate governance, risk management, compliance and a wide range of other matters. Although he is a seasoned litigator and courtoom advocate, he has a proven track record keeping his clients out of litigation, providing risk management counsel to a variety of leading manufacturing firms without a single suit being filed against them over a period of more than twenty years. Throughout his illustrious career, he has shaped New York law in several key areas. He orchestrated precedent-setting wins before the Court of Appeals and other appellate courts affecting insurance law, distribution of corporate assets, First Amendment, and commercial and personal free speech issues. Mr. Schulman is frequently approached by other litigators or their clients to take over or assist in pending cases—formulating and executing fresh strategies to overcome adverse rulings and steering the cases to a successful resolution.
Mr. Schulman earned his Juris Doctor degree from Cornell University and received a Bachelor of Arts with high honors from the University of Rochester.
